View a Web Site with IE and Mozilla at the Same Time Using MOZiE

In other to install MOZiE, you're going to need the following already installed on your Windows computer:

Go to the MOZiE Web site, at http://www.zeit.ca/mozie/.

In the top left corner of the page will be a link to download MOZiE.

Once you're on the download page, download the MOZiE installer, which is just a tiny 13kb ZIP file. Save it on your desktop.

Once mozie.zip is on your desktop, double-click it. If you're using Windows XP, after a few seconds a folder named "mozie" will appear on your desktop. If you're not using Windows XP, then you'll have to unzip mozie.zip with 7-Zip or the equivalent.

Now go to Start > Find > Files & Folders. Search for this file on your computer: mozctlx.dll

After a few minutes, Windows will report that it has found the file. Unfortunately, it will probably report several copies of the file. You need to find the one in a folder beginning with "1.6", as this is the version of mozctlx.dll that came with Mozilla 1.6 (when we eventually upgrade to Mozilla 1.7, you'll want to look for the file in a folder that begins with 1.7). Pay attention to the path to the mozctlx.dll you need.

Now go to Start > Run. In the Run box, enter xxxxxxx so that the Command Prompt opens.

In the command prompt, type the following and press Enter:

cd c:\path\to\the\mozilla\directory\

For instance, on my machine, with Mozilla 1.6, I would type the following and then press Enter:

cd c:\program files\

Now type this and press Enter:

regsvr32 mozctlx.dll

Close the command prompt window.

Go back to the mozie folder on your desktop. Open the mozie folder.

Double-click on mozie.hta, and MOZiE should open up.

You can now use MOZiE. Of course, you don't want to leave the mozie folder on your desktop forever, so let's move it to a more appropriate place.

Double-click on My Computer. Once that opens, double-click on C. Once that opens, double-click on Program Files.

Right-click on the mozie folder on your desktop & select copy. Right-click in Program Files & select Paste. Your mozie folder should now be in the Program Files folder. Leave My Computer open.

Now let's add a shortcut for MOZiE to your Start menu so that it's easy to get to it. Open the mozie folder in My Computer so that you can see mozie.hta. Click on mozie.hta & drag it to your Start menu. Do not unclick the mouse, and the Start menu will open, allowing you to position mozie.hta where you would like it. When mozie.hta is finally where you want it, unclick the mouse, and you will have a new shortcut on your Start menu.

Have fun using MOZiE!
