Search Engines

Through a glass darkly, finding what is hidden.

Where can I find advice about registering my sites with search engines?

  • Browser News ~ Statistics and other information related to search engines. Not a lot here, but well presented.
  • Search Engine Watch ~ It's been around for years, and it's indispensible. Subscribe to get the full range of information; however, there's a lot here that's available for free. Go now! excellent_star: Excellent!
  • Self Promotion ~ There's a lot of very useful information & tools here. You will definitely find this site useful.

How do I include search on my own site?

  • WebTrendsLive ~ We can't recommend this anymore, as the company has ended its free service. It is now a pay service only, starting at $35 per month. That said, it's a good service.
  • Google ~ You can use Google to provide a search engine on your site. The service starts free, but if you pay money, you can get additional services.

What are the best search engines to use on the Web?

  • Google ~ There is no better. Google is the best overall search engine available right now. excellent_star: Excellent!
  • Vivismo ~ Vivisimo allows you to search many different search engines at the same time in addition to Vivisimo. In addition, your search results are categorized into groups, which makes finding information even easier.
  • Daypop ~ A specialized search tool that indexes blogs and news sites. If you're looking for up-to-date information, Daypop is for you.
  • WiseNut ~ A lot like Google. Fast, effective.
  • AllTheWeb ~ Good for searching news and images.
