How to create various Linux filesystems (change /dev/hda1 below to your partition):
EXT2: mkfs.ext2 /dev/hda1
EXT3: mkfs.ext3 /dev/hda1
JFS: mkfs.jfs /dev/hda1
ResierFS: mkreiserfs /dev/hda1
XFS: mkfs.xfs -f /dev/hda1
