Currently Senior Consultant in Internet Services for Bryan Consulting, a monthly columnist for SecurityFocus and Linux Magazine, and adjunct professor at Washington University in St. Louis, R. Scott Granneman specializes in helping individuals, organizations, and businesses harness emerging technologies. Through presentations, writings, and consulting, Scott explicates the power of the Internet, the World Wide Web, Linux, and open source. As a teacher, a technology coordinator, and a technology consultant, he has taught thousands of people of all ages -- from pre-teens to senior citizens -- on a wide variety of topics.
Scott earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and Education and his Masters in English degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. His background as a private school English teacher and Technology Coordinator has proven invaluable to his ability to clearly communicate to his present audiences.
Scott has worked with schools and teachers to help them apply the power of technology, especially the Internet, the World Wide Web and Intranet systems, by integrating these new technologies into the curriculum and the school environment.
As a consultant for industry, his work includes helping companies take full advantage of the Internet's remarkable communication, sales, and service opportunities. He has delivered presentations and workshops to thousands of people, and hosts Web sites using an advanced Content Management System the enables non-technical users to easily edit and manage their sites. His clients include the Saint Louis Zoo, American Civil Liberties Union of Eastern Missouri, Anheuser-Busch, PostNET/Pulitzer Technologies, Stanford University Alumni Center, Habitat for Humanity, United States Arbitration & Mediation Midwest Inc., and Washington University School of Law.
Most recently the author of Don't Click on the Blue E!: Switching to Firefox (O'Reilly, 2005), Scott is presently at work on Hacking Knoppix, to be published by John Wiley & Sons in late 2005.
